One of the few producers of baked dog foods

Totally unique since its founding, Lotus continues to meet standards most other dog food companies never thought of trying for. They provide some of the most natural, wholesome dog and cat food you will find anywhere.

NY, Lotus seems to have some good things going. While their holistic approach may not be for everyone, it seems like a line of products many dogs would both enjoy and benefit from.

As more and more natural dog food companies began to sell out to mammoth companies, adjust their cooking methods, or sell out to meet the needs of large chain stores, the owners of Centinela Feed and Pet in Los Angeles decided it was time to do something.

Tired of all the extruded dog foods on the market, and convinced that oven-baked not only provided the best flavor but superior nutritional content as well, these folks decided to make their own oven-baked dog food that contained the best ingredients they could find.

The result? Lotus Natural Food for Pets. These folks did not worry that it would take three times longer to make this special dog food; they knew their pets would benefit from it. Lotus is the dog food they used to only dream of but has now been available on the shelves since 2003. Today, the dry dog foods are made at a family bakery in Canada, while the canned products are produced in their own micro-cannery in California.

Uniquely Different

One of the main reasons that Lotus claims to have superior products is due to their baking process. Most foods on the market today are extruded quickly under extremely high pressure. Baking retains more vitamins and allows Lotus to include almost twice as much fresh meat than other formulas. Lotus food also retains 100% of the proteins, while many extruded products lose as much as 20%.

Lotus is one of the few producers of baked dog foods and the only producer of baked cat food. In addition, they offer the only oven-baked grain-free dog food on the market. Because of the baked nature of their foods, each bag of Lotus dog food contains more cups of food than most competitors, because Lotus food weighs less per cup. Lotus is truly unique.

Ingredients and Nutritional Value

Every single food produced by Lotus has meat as its first ingredient. This meat is then supplemented with wholesome whole grains, vegetables, fruits, healthy oils, probiotics, and natural plant extracts. All of their ingredients are quality U.S and Canadian sources, with the exception of lamb and mussels from New Zealand.

Lotus does not provide AAFCO statements for their products, which can make it difficult to determine appropriate life stages. However, manufacturer recommendations and nutritional information may help owners make a wise choice.

Selection

Lotus Natural Food for Pets has dog formulas in three formats: dry, canned, and raw. Both the dry and canned formulas have several choices. The raw diet comes in frozen patty form, making it easy to offer just the right amount of fresh meat for your dog. If grain-free is important for you, Lotus offers grain-free choices as well.

A small, grass-roots type company, Lotus seems to have some good things going. While their holistic approach may not be for everyone, it seems like a line of products many dogs would both enjoy and benefit from.
