Diamond Dog Food Reviews
In-Depth Review and Analysis of all Diamond Dog Food Products
Committed to providing customers with high-quality pet food & avoiding premium prices
Diamond Pet Foods, headquartered in Meta, Missouri, was founded by brothers-in-law Gary Schell and Richard Kampeter in 1970. The two men purchased a local business that produced dog food and livestock feed and began developing pet food formulas specifically designed to give optimum nutrition to every kind of pet.
As the company grew in popularity, Schell and Kampeter built additional manufacturing plants. Diamond now works with three plants. In addition to the original plant in Meta, Missouri, Diamond opened a plant in Lathrop, California, in 1999, and a plant in Gaston, South Carolina, in 2002. The company is still a family-owned, privately held business, and it is managed by the Schell and Kampeter family.
Diamond Dog Foods Product:
Commitment to Customers
Diamond Pet Foods expresses its commitment to providing customers with high-quality pet food while avoiding the premium prices frequently found on premium dog foods. One way that Diamond keeps product prices down is by limiting the amount invested in marketing and advertising.
The company sources its ingredients from food-grade plants, guaranteeing that no hormones or other additives will be found in its products. Diamond advertises that its products are used satisfactorily by veterinarians, breeders, hunters, and pet owners.
Standard Diamond brand formulas are designed to meet the specific nutritional needs of each pet. Each recipe includes premium chicken fat, which is easy for dogs to digest for energy, and animal protein sources supply an easily-digested amino acid ratio. Diamond also includes omega fatty acids in its formulas in order to support a shiny coat and healthy skin.
A carefully formulated supply of vitamins and chelated minerals combine with the natural fiber sources to create a balanced, complete diet. Select recipes offer glucosamine and chondroitin for healthy joints, while puppy formulas contain DHA to promote good development of the brain and vision.
In 2006, Diamond introduced the Diamond Naturals brand. According to Diamond, these recipes contain no corn, wheat, soy, or by-products. Diamond Naturals products are designed to meet the marketing niche of customers who want natural, holistic diets for their pets.
Each dog food formula includes antioxidants to strengthen the immune system, fiber to aid in intestinal health and digestion, and animal protein sources for good digestibility and amino acid content. Recipes for puppies also include DHA, which aids in vision and brain development, and some formulas contain chondroitin and glucosamine to promote healthy joints.
Thorough Quality Control
Diamond Pet Foods guarantees high quality in all of its products. The company uses a 151 checks program in order to ensure the safety of each batch of dog food. As ingredients come in, they are subjected to a battery of tests designed specifically for the individual ingredients.
While the food is in production, additional tests check the safety at each production step in order to make sure that no contaminants were overlooked in previous tests. Diamond retains records of all test results in a computer system that is available for future reference as needed.
