Unusual Friends

An eagle owl named Flea was feeling broody, but couldn’t have babies of her own. So keepers at Saarburg’s Birds of Prey Park took pity on the bird and gave her chicken eggs to incubate. Now the surrogate mother is doing a great job of raising the chicks.

Hilda immediately adopted the Indian runner ducklings when they emerged from their eggs.

Philip Palmer, owner of the farm where Hilda and her ducklings reside, was none the wiser that his hen had sat on the wrong nest of eggs!

“The ducklings don’t leave her side and if they get scared they run for cover under their ‘mum’,” Palmer told The Daily Mail.
